The Dam with another international award!
The film The Dam has won the Grand Prize of the International Journalists’ Jury at the 19th Żubroffka International Short Film Festival in Białystok. In its statement, the Jury said: “We were impressed by the film’s refined visual concept, achieved through precise composition, tension-building camera work, and stoic acting performances. The filmmaker strikes a balance between familiarity and distance, creating a work that deeply resonates with the viewer’s psyche. Immersive soundscapes bring to life the chilling experience of a family in crisis within the framework of a courtroom drama.” Thank you!
The Dam awarded at FEST – New Directors/New Films Festival in Portugal!
The short film The Dam received a special mention at the FEST Festival in Espinho, Portugal – an event focused on discovering new talent among directors from around the world. Over 4,500 productions applied for selection, and The Dam ultimately became one of only three films awarded in its category (NEXXT).
The project was represented at the festival by the director, Giovanni Pierangeli, along with the composer, Paulina Derska. Thanks to a scholarship grant from the Polish Film Institute, they were able to take part in a post-screening Q&A session, attend various workshops, and establish new industry contacts – potentially leading to future collaborations.
The Dam Among Top 20 Films Competing for Prestigious BAFTA Award!
The short film The Dam has made it into the top 20 selections from over 1,000 international entries vying for the highly respected BAFTA Student Awards. This major achievement puts The Dam in the spotlight on the global stage, opening doors for its creators to take part in exclusive workshops and connect directly with key players in the film industry. The journey to the prestigious BAFTA just got real!
Feature Film Debut!
The Polish Film Institute has awarded a grant of 1,000,000 PLN to the short film My Secret Cyberlove, officially greenlighting the production of a full-length feature based on it. The original creative team remains on board: directed by B. Stankiewicz, screenplay by P. Hadyna, and music composed by P. Derska. The production is handled by East Studio Sp. z o.o. (Broadpeak).

My Secret Cyberlove has done it again — this time claiming the Audience Award at the renowned Short Waves Festival in Poznań! Selected from a field of strong international contenders, the film captured the hearts of viewers and secured a spot in the prestigious European Short Film Audience Award (ESFAA) program. This victory means My Secret Cyberlove will now screen at some of Europe’s top short film festivals, including Interfilm Berlin, Brussels Short Film Festival, and the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival — putting it in front of thousands of new viewers across the continent.
The Dam Selected for the Młodzi i Film Festival in Koszalin!
The journey continues! The Dam, directed by G. Pierangeli, has been officially selected for Młodzi i Film — the oldest festival in Europe dedicated to debut filmmakers. Taking place in Koszalin from June 9–14, the film will compete in the narrative short film category. This marks another major milestone for The Dam, which continues to impress juries and audiences alike across the festival circuit. Koszalin, here we come!
The Dam and My Secret Cyberlove Featured at Łodzią po Wiśle Festival!
Two films, one composer, and a celebration of rising talent — this year’s ‘Łodzią po Wiśle’ Festival will showcase both The Dam (dir. G. Pierangeli) and My Secret Cyber Love, two standout productions from the Polish National Film School in Łódź featuring original music by the same composer. The festival, known for spotlighting the best student films from the school, will take place at Kino Iluzjon in Warsaw on March 28–29, 2025.New International Project Featuring My Music!
Today, voice recording sessions took place for the three main characters of an exciting new project I’ll have the opportunity to compose music for – the animated film Safe Space by Czech director Adriana Bendžalová. The film tells a heartfelt story of friendship beyond boundaries and the moments when friends become your lifeline. Work on the soundtrack is set for spring, with the premiere scheduled for August 19.
Karesansui Wins Award at Cyprus Film Fashion Festival Youth!
A debut fashion campaign soundtrack—and an instant success! The video for Sophie Safinowska’s Karesansui collection has won the top prize in the Best Model Presence category at the Cyprus Film Fashion Festival Youth. Kudos to the creators for their outstanding concept—here’s to more success in the future!

The whole undertaking was an extremely fresh artistic experience – the designer was inspired by Japanese meditation gardens, hence the Eastern accents in the sound layer.
